Partnering with Teachers to Create Spaces for Social Emotional Learning

Participants will learn proactive strategies to prevent challenging and dysregulated behaviors and how to teach the development of skills in the areas of cognitive flexibility, frustration tolerance, impulse control, and problem solving. Strategies come from a neurodevelopmental approach for working with students who have experienced trauma, chronic stress, and/or lagging skills.

With a neurodevelopmental perspective, participants will learn how to create supportive environments that teach new skills and help regulate behavior.   The class will introduce strategies and planning tools to help educators understand and plan for the complex issues which are often present in students with challenging behaviors. Strategies for handling behavior due to trauma, chronic stress, and/or lagging skills in the areas of cognitive flexibility, problem solving, attention and/or frustration tolerance, will be addressed.
